Counseling, Interaction, Integration – Opportunities for New Immigrants to Participate
01.10.2025 – 31.08.2028
With the project "Counseling, Interaction, Integration – Opportunities for New Immigrants to Participate" KommMit e. V. supports newly arrived families, children, and young people in the Oberhavel district. The goal is to prevent poverty, facilitate social participation, and provide long-term support for the integration process.
Many people living in Hennigsdorf and the surrounding area have fled war, persecution, and dire hardship. They face numerous challenges: cramped living conditions, a lack of language skills, and limited access to education, employment, and healthcare. This is where the project comes in—with low-threshold services, psychosocial support, and community-building activities.
Our staff help children with their homework, encourage creativity and media literacy, offer play and recreational activities, and assist young people and adults with questions regarding education, training, employment, housing, and health. Topics such as democracy, equality, family, religion, and social participation are addressed in group and individual sessions.
An important part of the project is bringing new immigrants and the local community together. Language cafés, themed discussion groups, and group outings create opportunities for dialogue and mutual understanding.
The project aims to work closely with local stakeholders, such as schools, daycare centers, community organizations, and counseling centers, thereby helping to build a strong network that promotes integration in everyday life and prevents poverty.
The project is funded as part of the „Stark vor Ort“ program with funds from the European Union, the State of Brandenburg, and the Oberhavel district.
