ProjectPsychosocial support and psychotherapeutic care for people seeking protection in the district of Teltow-Fläming
01.01.2025 – 31.12.2025
The swift provision of care for people with mental impairments is essential to prevent long-term negative effects on their health. Therefore, the project focuses on enhancing psychosocial and psychotherapeutic care for people seeking protection in the district of Teltow-Fläming.
Target group
There is a great need for professional psychotherapeutic, health and psychosocial care among displaced people. Traumatic experiences, uncertain prospects of staying and crowded living situations in temporary accommodation centres put a strain on mental health. Access to standard treatment is particularly challenging, in rural areas with inadequate care infrastructure. To address this issue, our project employs two psychologists working on a mobile basis in the local residential homes - specifically in Luckenwalde, Trebbin, Rangsdorf, Blankenfelde, Niedergörsdorf, Großbeeren, Am Mellensee, Blankenfelde-Mahlow and Zossen. Additionally, the project establishes dedicated counselling facilities in the district.
Project objectives and implementation
Our project is designed to offer psychosocial and psychological counselling and care to people seeking protection, both as a preventive measure upon their arrival and in cases of acute need. By doing so, we aim to promote independent coping strategies for daily life challenges, enhance social skills to facilitate social participation and build resilience for future employment. Our services include diagnostics, psychosocial and psychotherapeutic treatment, as well as assistance in accessing existing regular systems. We prioritise close collaboration with local healthcare providers and existing specialised counselling facilities within the district.
