Our offersHousing

The majority of people seeking protection in Brandenburg currently reside in shared accommodation, which, for various reasons, harms people's mental health and social participation.

Our goal is to instigate a paradigm shift in accommodation policy, facilitating the immediate placement of people seeking protection into private accommodation. The initiative aims to utilise existing housing and encourage the development of new homes, ultimately benefiting both the region and the residents.

In Brandenburg, we are committed to improving the accommodation and housing conditions for people seeking protection through the following measures:

Housing Strategy Group

KommMit-PSZ is part of the "Housing Strategy Group" (Strategiegruppe Wohnen), which is an alliance of representatives from associations, counselling centres, initiatives, self-organisations, academia, local politics and civil society across the various districts in the state of Brandenburg. These partners convene regularly to address current accommodation challenges, exchange best practices and collaborate on joint activities.

Development of a housing concept for displaced people experiencing severe mental health challenges

We are developing a concept for specialised housing options tailored to mentally distressed people seeking protection (assisted individual and group living), which is to be implemented in Brandenburg's cities and districts in the future. In the initial stage of implementing our proposed concept, displaced people experiencing severe mental health challenges will receive support in managing daily life through integration assistance measures (individual and family support).

Support for regional initiatives

We support regional initiatives and foster dialogue through roundtable discussions. Our goal is to encourage widespread participation from civil society in organising accommodation for people seeking protection at the district level.
